Steps To A Brighter Life, Inc. is created to stimulate positive change to enhance responsibility and respectability amongst our youth.  Our primary objective is not only to empower our youth to strive for excellence but, to inspire and encourage them as well.  Our program will help our youth through mentoring teen entrepreneurial ideas, basic and advanced computer skill, job skills, college planning, money management and encourage healthy lifestyle choices. 

My name is Otis Shelton and I am the Founder and CEO of Steps To A Brighter Life Inc. How did I arrive at this name; well I'm glad you asked.  I was born and raised on a small farm in Greensboro, Alabama; about 30 miles south of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.  

I was raised by my granny, along with 13 other children.  There were no male role models around, only my granny and relatives.  My granny made us learn about God, even though we didn't know how to use Him, at the time.  

Since then, I was homeless for two years - as a teenager. I got my GED in Job Corp. While living at the shelter, I went to technical school and got a certificate in office specialist and later my Bachelors at Samford University.  I got a grant writing certificate from Emory University. As a result, I've been working in the mortgage industry for over 35 years. I am currently seeking my certificate in drug counseling.  Today, by the grace of God, I have 27 years clean and serene.    Now, God has put it on my heart to give kids who are like I was...Steps To A Brighter Life.
